IBM’s NHIN Project Executive, sends a letter of appreciation to CTIS for its participation on IBM’s Nationwide Healthcare information Network (NHIN) Architecture Prototype. Exceptional leadership, project coordination, implementation and demonstration was delivered by the CTIS staff. Because of IBM’s collaboration with CTIS, IBM has been able “to create a robust architectural design that lays the foundation for future healthcare information interoperability.” At IBM’s invitation, CTIS participated in the Third NHIN Forum in Washington, DC, along with close to 1000 other healthcare professional organizations and individuals.

NCI CTEP Enterprise System in top 10% of all HHS Operating Divisions
CJeffrey H. Weiner, Acting Deputy and Chief Information Officer of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), recently sent a congratulatory letter to Dr. Michael Christian, Associate Director of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP), citing the accomplishments of NCI and the value of the CTEP Enterprise System (CTEP-ESYS). Mr. Weiner described CTEP-ESYS as a “tactical investment [that] scored in the top 10% of all HHS Operating Division submissions.” The CTEP-ESYS is the primary data collection mechanism for NCI’s large, complex extramural clinical trials program. CTEP-ESYS collects safety and clinical results data on 1,500 ongoing clinical trials that monitor more than 300,000 patients per year in more than 17 disease areas. CTIS began CTEP-ESYS development in 1999 and continues to operate, maintain and enhance the system based on CTEP’s requirements.

CTIS is recognized for its contribution in building the first 'Preventorium' in Latin America
CTIS was recognized with a plaque for its contribution in building the first 'Preventorium' in Latin America. 'Preventorium' is a word, created by Dr. Elmer E. Huerta, which means a designated clinic within a hospital that is used to screen patients who seem to be healthy but end up being diagnosed with a chronic disease before the onset of debilitating symptoms. In addition, risk factors for chronic diseases are identified and managed before they can develop into an overt disease. CTIS is the primary Peru Preventorium Demonstration partner and has provided the private sector resources to develop the original information technology (IT) solutions for data collection and multi-site Preventoriums, as well as staff and funding for initial construction. The International Division of CTIS is transferring disease management resources, technologies, and knowledge to health organizations in the developing world through the use of IT, research, training, and awareness.
