Message from the CEO

Dear Friends,

I am very grateful that you have decided to take the time to learn more about CTIS. I want to take some time to explain about why we at CTIS work so hard, and are so committed to supporting the healthcare industry to improve its purpose of serving and empowering patients. My journey to serve patients began over 25 years ago, by building programs that are driven by purpose, passion, profit, and philanthropy, through CTIS. CTIS is founded on the simple belief that good and timely information in the hands of patients and their physicians, providers, and management contributes to better collaboration and provides the basis for better disease prevention and management. With this in mind, CTIS has been serving clients across the full spectrum of organizations in the health ecosystem with proven health informatics solutions.

It was during this time, however, that I also became a patient myself and began to appreciate the great challenges facing the healthcare industry and patients themselves. My personal experience as a patient has given me a greater perspective on managing chronic disease with co-morbidity, as well indentifying gaps in the provision of care. I have been afflicted with 30 conditions through the course of my lifetime from congestive heart failure, to pulmonary hypertension, to diabetes. My care is coordinated with over 10 physicians, and as a result, I have to take 30 pills on a daily basis, go through over 10 tests a month and spend 3 hours a day in managing my health through a synchronization of mind and body to remain productive in my role as the CEO of CTIS and support my philanthropic activities. My personal and professional experience has allowed me to connect with over 50 providers, 200 physicians, and 500 patients.

During my personal journey, I have witnessed first-hand the disconnect among stakeholders in the healthcare industry. For example, I have struggled with poor information exchange between my doctors and hospitals; received treatment as a statistic rather than a patient; and suffered as a result of a lack of proper clinical workflow. This perspective has inspired me to focus CTIS’s mission on what we can do today for patients facing health disparity, chronic disease and co-morbidities, as well as baby boomers moving into elder care by building good health informatics solutions. CTIS’ Good Health Informatics solutions deliver needed information with integrity at the point of care, process streamlining, and quality management which allow for targeted treatment programs and individualized care.

I can truly say that I feel a direct connection to each and every patient affected by our solutions. Each and every employee at CTIS understands that patients are not mere statistics, but mothers and daughters, sons and fathers. After all, everyone at some point will become a patient, and deserves to receive the best integrated care possible. This site contains some perspectives on the issues surrounding the healthcare industry and how we might seek to overcome them.
